Easy Nihari

Pakistani Beef Stew

Ingredients

Add oil and ghee to a Dutch oven over med-high heat.

STEP 1

Add whole spices and onion. Sauté until golden brown.

STEP 2

Deglaze with water. Add garlic & ginger. Sauté for 30 seconds.

STEP 3

Add beef shanks. Sauté until brown.

STEP 4

Add ground spices, Nihari masala & salt. Sauté.

STEP 5

Add water. Bring to a boil and simmer. Cover & cook for 6 hours.

STEP 6

Remove whole spices. Reserve some Nihari broth & allow to cool.

STEP 7

Gradually add reserved Nihari broth to atta while whisking.

STEP 8

Slowly stir atta mixture into Nihari. Bring to a simmer.  Cover & cook.

STEP 9

Garnish with garam masala, ginger, green chilies, cilantro & lemon.
