Marinate the chicken.
Gather ingredients for chicken curry.
Sauté onions. Add whole spices, garlic & ginger. Sauté.
Add marinated chicken, tomato, green chili, dried plums & water. Cover & cook.
Sauté out water. Add salt, red chili flakes, garam masala, kewra & lemon. Stir.
Gather ingredients to parboil Basmati Rice.
Parboil rice with salt, oil & lemon juice. Drain.
Gather ingredients for layering the Biryani.
Layer 1/2 of the rice, then chicken, and then remaining rice
Drizzle colored milk & oil, Top with herbs and lemon slices. Cover & steam.
To serve, gently move onto platter with rice paddle or a small plate. Serve hot with yogurt or raita.
